This is not really a post but more of a reminder for businesses who are using social media (networks) such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. I will write a more in-depth post next week but right now I am getting ready for the Knowledge to Action Forex trading course next Monday in Sydney which I am well excited about.
So… The number one rule is:
“Always – ALWAYS!!! point your social network profiles back to your own assets such as your blog and/or website.”
For example when chatting with people within social networks make an effort to point the person back to your site for further information. You should also have your blog posts automatically published to your social media profiles so your social network communities get taken to back to your blog. See this case study on how we do it => “How Does BusinessBlogs Benefit From Using CampaignHub’s Solutions?”
Your blog/website MUST have a good sales funnel to capture prospects details which are stored in your contact database or email marketing database which you own.
Why is this important?
Just imagine if you get banned from Facebook or Facebook decides to change the rules about how businesses interact with the users or Twitter decides to charge businesses for using Twitter. This may sound silly but didn’t Facebook start off as a closed network that never shared your information to anyone? Now look at it => “History Of Facebook’s Privacy Settings“.
If this does happen at least you have the details of prospects in your database so you can contact them. Plus you have trained your prospects to go to your website/blog for information so you still have an online presence.
If you are new to social media and wondering how the hell you start using it without draining your business of $$ and time I recommend you buy our eBook “Facebook for Business” as the first part deals with the strategy of using social media for business without the silly “do social media or die” rants from people who don’t have a clue how to actually get social media traffic into a businesses pipeline.
It took us 2 months of research to write the eBook and is the same strategy we use for our own clients. Its just been updated from about 2 weeks ago to take into account Facebook’s latest changes!
Facebook for Business eBook
If you are looking at Facebook in 2011 and don’t really have any idea on how to use Facebook as a business tool then I recommend you buy the Facebook for Business eBook. It took the CampaignHub team 2 months part-time to write the book and the Facebook strategy we defined in the eBook is exactly what we use with our own clients so this information alone is worth the small cost of $17.00 USD.

Great post. I see lots of profiles that don't link back to their site/blog.
Now, the online marketing still new for people. The Information Technology provides new chance for company but also bring new threat for company, such as spam, virus. Nice article, it educates us the way of business assisted by social media.
A lot of people forget about the logic behind using social networking websites for promoting business. This posts reminds everyone to always links back to their company website for back link purposes. Great job!
