Facebook Adds Comment Feature to Like Button

facebookI have just stumbled on this really neat feature that Facebook has just added in mentioned on their blog. If you are using Facebook for Business then these plugins are very powerful at helping you build brand awareness.

You can now add a comment when you “Like” something!

Now, when a user adds a comment to the iFrame version of the Like button, a larger, more prominent story will be shared with the user’s friends. In the past, we’ve seen comments result in increased distribution and referral traffic. To enable this feature, ensure that you are using layout=”standard” and the width of the button is at least 450 pixels. Source

The “Like” button is part of the “Facebook Social Plug-in” suite of features provided by facebook which you can add to your website/blog in order to extend the Facebook experience for the visitor. We use a number of social plug-ins including the “Fan Box” which you can see on the right hand column of this site.

See example below of the new comment feature in action.

When you click the “Like” button you will now see a comment box.

Which allows you to add a comment about what you have just “Liked”

The comment then ends up in your stream so your friends can see it.

Facebook

This is a really powerful feature that helps spread your content to Facebook communities and people who may currently not know of you.
