Is Your Business As Fit As It Can Be?

darwin‘Survival of the fittest’ is a phrase drawn from Darwin’s theory of natural selection. The theory goes (apologies Mr D) that those species equipped with the best genetic make up, or “fitness”, have the greatest chance of survival when facing competition within their natural environment.

So how can you apply this concept to business?

  • What training are you committing to?
  • Does your business work out?
  • Are you setting goals to monitor your performance against?
  • Do you have a coach helping you with motivation, tools and techniques to perform better?
  • Do you regularly analyse your opposition?

I believe the top athletes of today are mostly on a physical parity. It’s their mental ability that separates them. They believe they are better and because of this they generally are. Legends like Muhammed Ali, Michael Jordan, Sachin Tendulkar, Tiger Woods, Michael Schumacher, Rodger Federer, even Rafael Nadal.
So is it time to think about the physical and mental fitness of your business and the people within it?
Great athletes focus on being exceptional at one sporting discipline by directing their energies and commitment entirely to that one discipline so they can be the very best at it.

What about your business? Are you focusing your energies and attention on the wrong or right things that will get the wins you need?
Perhaps it’s time to train smarter, not harder.

  2. Thanks Bayut.

If only businesses worked out and applied the same effort, discipline and commitment as professional athletes then we’d have some real high performance podium-blitzing stories to learn from and admire.

    • You are welcome St John Craner..

Yes very true, examples are set by the most hardworking athletes and if a business wants to set bench mark of its own name, then high performance should be maintained…

      Nice talking to you
